چکیده

This work reports on the implementation of electrospinning (ES) as a facile route to encapsulate nano-engineered materials in a polystyrene (PS) matrix. We applied ES to co-encapsulate two kinds of nanoparticles, i.e., upconversion nanophosphors (UCNPs) and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), in polystyrene (PS)-based microand nano-fibers (PSFs). This approach made it possible to integrate near-infrared (NIR) light-sensitive 500-nm β-NaYF4:Yb, Er UCNPs with 10-nm γ-Fe2O3 SPIONs in PS fibers. During the ES process, PSFs were additionally loaded with a well-established singlet oxygen (∆g) photosensitizer, rose bengal (RB). The thus obtained PSFs revealed the promising features of prospective multi-functional magnetic photoluminescent photocatalytic nano-constructs. OPEN ACCESS

Hybrids of Polystyrene-b-Poly(ethylene-ran-butylene)-b- Polystyrene Reinforced by Electrospun Polyimide/ Carbon Nanotube Nanofibers: Preparation and Properties

Using electrospinning technique, well-aligned poly(azo-ether-imide) (PAEI) nano-fibers and PAEI/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nano-fibers were developed in this effort. Afterwards, polystyrene-b-poly (ethylene-ran-butylene)-b-polystyrene (SEBS) and polyimide-based nano-fiber films were casted. The as-prepared electrospun nanofibers acted as homogeneous reinforcement to enhance the tensile...

Photocatalytic Self Cleaning Textile Fibers by Coaxial Electrospinning

Photocatalytic self-cleaning textile fibers have been created using coaxial electrospinning. This is accomplished by electrospinning cellulose acetate as the core phase and a dispersion of nanocrystalline TiO2, a well-known photocatalyst, in the sheath phase. A simple deacetylation step after the initial electrospinning yields self-cleaning textile fibers. Self-cleaning activity is exhibited at...

Preparation of biopolymer fibers by electrospinning from room temperature ionic liquids.

Electrospinning is a versatile process used to prepare micro- and nano- sized fibers from various polymers dissolved in volatile solvents. In this report, cellulose and cellulose-heparin composite fibers are prepared from nonvolatile room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) solvents by electrospinning. RTILs are extracted from the biopolymer fiber after the fiber formation using a cosolvent. Micron...
